Tour Dates: October 17th to 27th Maximum Group Size: 7 Participants - We need a minimum of 2 people to run this tour. Leader: Edson Endrigo Itinerary: (11 days / 10 nights) Locations: Intervales State Park - Itatiaia National Park - Ubatuba City Day 1 (Oct. 17th) - Arrival and reception at São Paulo International Airport, Guarulhos. Transfer to Intervales State Park. Check in at the hotel located inside the park. Target birds will be Black-fronted Piping Guan, Pale-browed Treehunter, Spot-winged Wood-Quail, Red-breasted Toucan, Swallow-tailed Cotinga, Black-legged Dacnis, Crescent-chested Puffbird, Squamate Antbird and White-breasted Tapaculo, Robust Woodpecker, Sharpbill, Giant, Large-tailed and White-bearded Antshrike. Night birding for Tawny-browed Owl, Least Pygmy-Owl, Rusty-barred Owl, Mottled Owl, Buff-fronted Owl, Long-trained Nightjar and Short-tailed Nighthawk. Dinner and checklist. Day 2 (Oct. 18th) - Early breakfast and all day birding at Intervales, on trails in the Atlantic Forest. Target birds will be Blue-bellied Parrot, Red-capped Parrot , Pavonine Cuckoo, Rufous-capped Motmot, Hooded Berryeater, Bare-throated Bellbird, Bertoni's Antbird, Ochre-rumped Antbird, Hangnest Tody-Tyrant, Variegated Antpitta, Bay-ringed Tyrannulet, Brown Tanager, Pin-tailed, Blue and Greenish Manakin, Buffy-fronted and Temminck's Seedeater. Night birding. Dinner and checklist. Day 3 (Oct. 19th) - Early breakfast and all day birding at Intervales, on trails in the Atlantic Forest. Target birds will be Black-billed Scythebill, Red-and-White Crake, Black Hawk-eagle, Mantled Hawk, Saffron Toucanet, Spot-billed Toucanet, Yellow-fronted Woodpecker, Ochre-collared Piculet, Rusty-breasted Nunlet, Cinnamon Piha, Gray-bellied Spinetail and Oustalet's Tyrannulet. Night birding. Dinner and checklist. Day 4 (Oct. 20th) - Early breakfast and all day birding at Intervales, on trails in the Atlantic Forest.At this day we will be looking for bird species that we have not seen and that we will not have a chance to see in another location. Day 5 (Oct. 21st) - Early breakfast and all day birding at Intervales, on trails in the Atlantic Forest.At this day we will be looking for bird species that we have not seen and that we will not have a chance to see in another location. Day 6 (Oct. 22nd) - Early breakfast. Birding at Intervales until lunch time looking for bird species that we have not seen and that we will not have a chance to see in another location. Check out of hotel. Transfer to Itatiaia. Check in at hotel do Ypê. Dinner and checklist. Day 7 (Oct. 23rd) - Early breakfast and all day birding at Itatiaia on trails in the Atlantic Forest. Target birds will be Barred Forest-Falcon, Spot-winged Wood-Quail, Slaty-breasted Wood-Rail, Plumbeous Pigeon, Black-throated Trogon, White-eared Puffbird , Yellow-browed Woodpecker, Brazilian Antthrush, Such's Antthrush, Speckle-breasted Antpitta, Rufous Gnateater, Red-ruffed Fruitcrow, Rough-legged Tyrannulet, Large-headed Flatbill, Gilt-edged Tanager and Blackish-blue Seedeater. Stop for lunch and a short break at our hotel. Night birding. Dinner and checklist. Day 8 (Oct. 24th) - Early breakfast followed by a one hour drive to the upper part of the Itatiaia National Park (altitude about 2.400 meters) to see birds such as Black-and-Gold Cotinga, Itatiaia Spinetail, Black Hawk-Eagle, Black-breasted Plover-Crest, Great Pampa-Finch, Thick-billed Saltator, Golden-winged Cacique, White-crested Tyrannulet, Velvety Black-Tyrant, Rufous-tailed Antbird, Streamer-tailed Tyrant and White-bellied Seedeater. Night birding for Rusty-barred Owl and Short-tailed Nighthawk. Return to our hotel. Dinner and checklist. Day 9 (Oct. 25th) - Early breakfast and all day birding at Itatiaia National Park, on trails in the Atlantic Forest. At this day we will be looking for bird species that we have not seen and that we will not have a chance to see in another location. Day 10 (Oct. 26th) - Early breakfast. Birding at Itatiaia until lunch time looking for bird species that we have not seen and that we will not have a chance to see in another location. Check out of hotel. Transfer to Ubatuba. Check in at hotel the Recanto das Palmeiras Lodge. In the afternoon we will visit the Folha Seca Trail with the possibility of Ruddy Quail-Dove, Spot-backed Antshrike, Scaled Antbird, Rufous-capped Antthrush, Lesser Woodcreeper Black-cheeked Gnateater, Eye-ringed Tody-flycatcher, Long-billed Wren, Slaty Bristlefront and Rufous-capped Antthrush. Night birding for Mottled Owl, Long-tufted Screech-owl, Least Pygmy-Owl and Pauraque. Dinner and checklist. Day 11 (Oct. 27th) - Early breakfast. Birding at the Fazenda Angelim looking for Buff-throated Purpletuft, Fork-tailed Tody-flycatcher, Red-necked Tanager, Spotted Bamboowren, Long-billed Wren, Spot-breasted Antvireo and Blond-crested and Yellow-throated Woodpecker. Stop for lunch. Check out of hotel. Transfer to São Paulo International Airport, Guarulhos. End of the trip. Price Includes: Fluent English speaking birding guide, all meals (including water and soft drinks), accommodation (Hotels/Lodges), ground transportation, entrance fees at National and State Parks.
