Pantanal is the largest wetland area in the world. Pantanal has mixed vegetation ranging from patches of dry forest, riparian forests, and "cerrados" to swamps. This is one of the best places in Brazil to watch large birds and mammals. We will visit the Aguapé Lodge in an excellent environment for birdwatching, with over 270 species have been listed. The Lodge is located 195 kilometers (121,17 mi) from Campo Grande (International Airport) the capital of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul and 60 kilometers (37,28 mi) from Aquidauana city, which is known as the gateway to the Pantanal. Interesting bird species are Undulated Tinamou, Capped Heron, Southern Screamer, Jabiru, Buff-necked Ibis, Roseate Spoonbills, Snail Kite, Hyacinth Macaw, Blaze-winged and Blue-crowned Parakeet, Gilded Hummingbird, Toco Toucan, Pale-crested and White-fronted Woodpecker, Red-billed Scythebill, Chestnut-capped Foliage-gleaner, Scarlet-headed Blackbird, Ferruginous Pygmy Owl and Spectacled Owl.
